And the gold medal goes to…
Niki on Feb 22nd 2006
Well, I’m sure lots of people besides me. But - we have a completed project. Sewn and all. And I had less than 1/2 an inch of green yarn left after sewing on the handles! OK - no more talking - if a picture’s worth a thousand words - well, then, here are 2000.
Almost done - happy dance!!!

So yesterday I got to once again prove my wonderful mom-ship. If you know me, you know that I hate sewing. If you don’t know me, well, there isn’t much in this world I wouldn’t do if it got me out of sewing. Hayley has a “Feast of the Gods” event at school tomorrow (nothing [...]
The rest of the song
Niki on Feb 19th 2006
Thanks to Ann from Team NC, here is the rest of the “Knit a Little” song:
She left all the housework, neglected all the children, but she kept ripping out her work.
Dropped stitches!
Colors mixed!
Wrong gauge!
I’m laughing my butt off right now, and may never knit without a soundtrack in my head ever again!
We have a bag!
Niki on Feb 18th 2006
No handles yet, but the body of the bag is done. I can’t wait to felt it, but I will make myself wait until it’s ALL ready for felting. I have had major knitting time today, while spending time at home with a sick Hayley. I’m also off on Monday (oh, the joy of working [...]
With apologies to Meredith Wilson…

For those of you who are fans of musicals, I give you the song that’s been pounding through my head since last night. From the Music Man, my version of “Pick a Little”:
Knit a little, frog a little,
Knit a little, frog a little,
Tink, tink, tink, frog a lot, knit a little more…
(repeat)
I started to decrease [...]
Progress
Niki on Feb 17th 2006
Not a whole lot to say today, because I’m so busy knitting away on my bag. Just thought I’d post the progress. And yes, I’m in love with it!
Also went to snapshirts.com and made myself a word cloud for my blog. If you haven’t tried it, you should, it’s fun! And I can tell I [...]
Wipeout
Niki on Feb 13th 2006
After much whining and gnashing of teeth, I frogged the whole bag today. Yep, the whole thing. I had finished tier #3, and the squares were just too ginormous (think 26″ diameter bag, with 5″ squares). That, and the fact that I was definitely going to run out of yarn, did it for me. I [...]
To market, to market to buy a fat sheep…
Niki on Feb 11th 2006
So there’s been limited progress on the MSB today, since we spent 5 1/2 hours out selling GS cookies today (140 boxes, in case you really cared). Big thanks to Sports Authority for letting us sit inside rather than out in the 37 degree raining sleeting nasty outdoors. I knew there was no way I [...]
Going for the gold
Niki on Feb 11th 2006
As actually requested by a visitor (oh my gosh, a visitor to my blog!), I am posting a picture of the yarn I’m using for my Market Squares Bag. It is Crystal Palace Iceland, a super-bulky roving yarn, and obviously not the yarn called for in the pattern.
I’ve decided my bag will definitely be a [...]
Knitting Olympics - ready to go?
Niki on Feb 10th 2006
I’m ready to cast on my entrelac bag - wish me luck! I’m flying by the seat of my pants on this thing, adjusting the number of squares, which will be really really big squares, since I’m using a WAY bigger yarn than called for. I’ve joined Team North Carolina (woo-hoo - go NC!) and [...]
