I’m not as smart as I think I am!

So here I think I’ve invented something cool by slipping the stitches on the River Rapids sock as if to knit instead of as if to purl. Then Cindy from work and knit group was kind enough to say, “That looks like Eye of Partridge.”  Which, I’ll admit, I’ve heard of, but never seen, so I Googled it tonight. Sure enough, Eye of Partridge, though none of the pages seemed to reference slipping the stitches to knit, I know that when I slipped them as if to purl on the second sock (before tinking in disgust), the pattern was not the same. Anyway, lesson learned, Ecclesiastes 1:9, “There’s nothing new under the sun.” Someone else invented it a very long time ago! Still, I have to admit, it’s a wonderful look, and I know I’ll use it again.

On the needles - sock #1 for Mark.  It’s going fast, which is good, because it kind of makes my fingers itch! I’ve also been alternating knitting on it with reading Needled to Death by Maggie Sefton. It’s the sequel to Knit One, Kill Two, which I got from the library last weekend. My mom actually bought this one and sent it to me, not knowing I had just read the first one. It is a fun series for a knitaholic/fiberholic like me, and hey, if I can’t be knitting, then I can be reading about knitting, right?

I found out this week that there’s a NC team for the Knitting Olympics, so when I get a minute, I’ll have to join. And swatching, yeah, that would be good too!
