The cutest sock yarn ever, or TCSYE for short

Ever since I emailed Tricia a picture of this yarn, and called it “the cutest sock yarn ever”, we have referred to it only by that name. She got hers first (it was nowhere to be found in NC), and finished her socks before we even got to California. The funny thing is, after seeing the yarn online, I was walking through Kohl’s, and found a very cute sweater in light pink, hot pink, orange, and white stripes. If I believed in karma, I might have even called it that. I choose instead to think that God picked out that sweater for me, since He made me, and He knows what I like! I picked up 2 of the sweaters (one for me and one for Tricia, of course), for $8 each off of the clearance rack. When I got to CA, Warren at Marin Fiber Arts had a ball reserved for me. Of course, the yarn cost as much as both of the sweaters put together, but it was WAY worth it. This is the first pair of socks I have completed (notice I said pair - there’s an orphan Fixation sock languishing in my bag) with a short-row toe and heel that look decent. I used Priscilla Gibson-Roberts’ method that uses backwards yarnovers instead of wraps, and I like it, though I think I like the toe more than the heel. I guess I’m a heel flap girl at heart (boy, does that sound Southern, but I guess it’s better than a mud flap girl!) - they just fit me better.
I saw the funniest knitting acronym on one of my email lists today - PIGS, which stands for Projects in Grocery Sacks. We’re getting to that point at my house - with the completion of these socks, there are 4 projects on the needles, which is 2 more than I usually can stand to have. I have 2 sets of socks that are lacking only 1/2 a sock or so, but I just couldn’t bear to not make the TCSYE socks right away, since the weather has been warming up quickly, and I’m losing opportunities to wear them with my sweater! I really need to finish up those other socks, though, so I can start on my Lorna’s Laces, and the other 10 pairs of sock yarn I brought home from our trip. I’ve been asked the question, “just how many pairs of socks does one person need?” The answer: as many pairs of socks as there are cute balls of sock yarn. It’s an infinite number. I personally intend to prove that theory, though I may need another sock drawer. Oh - and Tricia - somehow there was a discussion about my messy drawers the other night, and that if I died, I didn’t want Mark to open my PJ drawer and think I was a slob - I just don’t care if my PJs are wrinkled. But - he said that if I died, he would give all of my knitted socks to you. Guess I can leave that part out of the will, since he knows where they should go!
Oh, and in case you’re dying for some of this yarn as well, it’s Meilenweit Fantasy #4833. Lots of luck finding it! And in case you care, here are the new funniest search terms someone used and actually got to my site. Go figure. And learn to spell. And what? Who invented it? Come on, people!
