Learning something new (almost) every day

I have long wondered why nearly all the heel flaps I’ve ever seen were done in the “sl 1 k1″ mode, or something very closely related.  Why oh why can’t you just continue the pattern?  I couldn’t find much of anything in the way of patterns that continued a pattern down the heel (does that make sense?), but decided it was worth a shot.  I worked these socks in a K4P2 rib, and continued it all the way down, and down the foot.  I very nearly carried it all the way down the toe, but Cindy talked me out of it, and I’m glad she did.  I was SO very tired of the rib pattern by the time I was done, it wasn’t even funny.  But they’re done, and they match.  With a pattern this busy, I just couldn’t see not matching them.

Currently hanging out on the needles, I’m trying the Frequency socks in some gorgeous Lorna’s Laces.  Those tiny stitches with those tiny cables are nearly driving me nuts.  I’ve also picked back up the Lotus Blossom Tank, and have finished the first lace repeat (yes, finally).  I’m still ignoring the Lace Wing socks, and it’s just too hot to even think about the ArtFibers sweater.  My kids are gone to Grandma’s this week, so there should be some great knitting time.  We’re also heading to the mountains this weekend, just for a day, so I need to cast on some mindless socks to work on in the car (lace patterns or cables + twisty mountains does not = a happy me!).
