Lots and lots of pictures!

So I’m going to make up for my lack of pictures (oh yeah, and posting!) in the last few weeks.  We have had a whirlwind of both activity and germs in our house for the last week.  Hmm, where to start, where to start?  OK, we’ll start with birthdays!  In the span of 11 days, we have 3 birthdays and 1 anniversary in our family, so last weekend we got together with a huge crowd of family and had 1 gigantic party.  Don’t believe it was that big?  How about 3 cakes? Yes, we get carried away.  The iPod cake was for Shea, who turned 16, the basketball cake was for my nephew Cole, who turned 2, and the other cake was for OtherMom, whose age shall not be stated in print, but I will tell you that if you look hard at her cake, you’ll know how old she is!  And I hope she won’t kill me for this!

While this party was going on, the kids had a silly string fight.  Imagine 2 teenagers, 1 preteen, and an 8, 6, 3, and 2 year old, all set loose with silly string.  It was also Holly’s first encounter with the stuff, which was funny.  This is a great pic of Shea, Hayley, and Holly in the midst of the battle.

We all had a great time at the party, and I gave Deb her fair isle hat and these socks, made of my Jojoland eBay yarn.

Cole was of course a hoot to watch and listen to - here he is with the “cool tractor” we gave him - notice that the “tattoos” on his arms go with his Dad’s (seated behind him).

I think, though, his favorite present was the toolbox from Grandpa and Grandma.  He knew the name (and purpose) of every tool, and quickly went to work with the drill and screwdriver.  I think he would have worked on that screw for hours if we’d have let him.

I would have taken pictures of him with the cute clothes we all got him, but he opened up the packages, got a funny look on his face (we declared it the “Why did they wrap up laundry?” look), and tossed it away, and went back to the dinosaurs, tractor, and tools.  All in all it was a great time, and we loved seeing family from out of town.

Besides the party (wait - there’s more?) last weekend, we picked out dresses for the girls to wear in my sister’s wedding next June (yay Bren and Daniel!).  They have been ordered, but with the way these 2 have been growing, we’re going to wait a few months before we have them fitted and altered!

There has been much coughing and sniffing in our house this week.  We seem to be passing around a cold, and we’re all enjoying the lovely dose of ragweed we have here in the Pollen Capital of the World.  It’s finally cool enough at night to open up the house, but that just lets more pollen in.  Hmm - A/C or Kleenex - which is cheaper?

I guess we could talk about knitting - I finished up OtherMom’s socks, as noted above.  I also finally finished the Simple Stripes socks.  They’re cute, a little itchy, but they’re done! I have also been trying to get serious about the Lotus Blossom Tank.  I’d like to get it done before Indian Summer hits us here, so that the recipient actually has a chance to wear it.  The bottom picture is of the progress thus far.

I need to pull back out my ArtFibers sweater, and maybe even start Mark’s vest from ArtFibers.  Oops, did I say that?  I’ve been thinking about some felted bowls, boxes, or maybe vases for Christmas presents, but know that I’m probably already knitting Christmas presents for the only people who would appreciate such items!

Back to work tomorrow, then to my new Yoga class.  Hopefully I won’t be dead by the time I get home tomorrow night!
