Got yarn, got needles, want Addis!!!

OK – as you see from my oh so exciting and innovative title – the yarn is here, after a call to the vendor (oops, they thought they’d already shipped it), and the second set of Boye interchangeable needles are here after a long drawn-out eBay battle (you don’t want to know), and the book of course got here before anything else – Socks Soar on Two Circular Needles by Cat Bordhi.  I had just heard way too much about the book – it was everywhere I turned, even in Debbie Macomber’s newest novel.  So I broke down and ordered it, and the needles.  I started Daniel’s (future BIL) first sock tonight, and so far I like it.  BUT – and a big but – the joins on these needles are just not smooth enough for this fine yarn (Trekking XXL).  I’m dying for 2 sets of Addis, and I may just break down and get some.  What the heck – turns a $14 pair of socks into a $50 pair of socks, but if I like the technique enough (so far so good), I will more than get my money’s worth.  I think I’m going to try to get at least one of the socks done on these needles.  Now the trick is – do I have enough yarn?  I bought one ball, thinking it should be plenty, but now I’m not so sure.  I guess I’ll see when I get to the end of the sock!

I had a great “knit experience” at the doctor’s office today.  One nurse noticed my marsupial bag, and mentioned that another nurse there knitted and felted.  Then the PA noticed it.  Then my daughters’ nurse noticed it, and called over the knitting nurse.  The next thing you know, we had 3 or 4 nurses, 1 PA, and 1 doctor, all discussing knitting.  One nurse commented that she’d love for someone to come to their office in the evening and teach the rest of them how to knit.  I told them if they wanted to do that, I could teach them.  So we’ll see if I get a call.  But it was a cool experience!

I know there’s not too much excitement in this tonight – so I’ll end with this.  These are the adorable baby birds who were born in our bedroom window.  Aren’t they sweet?  Hopefully they’ll decide to move out before they start chirping like mad at 6:00 in the morning.
