The kool-aid socks are done!  I still don’t have a name for them, but I love them!  I have started some socks about 5 times now with some Trekking XXL color 134, which is some very Spring-y pink, green, and aqua, with a little grey and white fair isle thrown in for effect.  I really wanted to make something other than plain vanilla ribbed socks, and tried 2 different patterns out of Charlene Schurch’s Sensational Knitted Socks book.  One was a slip-stitch rib, which I didn’t like much, and the other was a chevron pattern, which I loved, but it started each needle with a purl stitch, and I just couldn’t get rid of the gaps at the needle ends, and it looked terrible.  So, instead of my usual 2×2 rib, I’m doing a 3×3 rib.  OK, go ahead – ooooohhh.  I know you were dying to do it.  I can take it.  Oh – and for those snarky people (you know who you are) who needed a better picture of the garter rib, see if this is any better.

I spent much of yesterday playing with the green and red watermelon yarn that Tricia and I made by accident when we were trying to get pink and green.  It was not pretty – at all.  In fact, it may have been the ugliest yarn I’ve ever seen (OK, well maybe not that bad – I’ve seen some bad yarn).  But – I wouldn’t give these socks to anyone I liked, or even someone I didn’t like.  I just couldn’t see continuing.  I, being the “in the box” person I am, assumed the yarn was ruined.  Mark, however, said, “why can’t you just dye it again?”  Duh, me!  Why didn’t I think of that?  So, I’ll hopefully have time later this week to play with it and see if I can salvage it.  And Tricia – so sorry I’ve insulted our yarn – the rest of it is perfect (oops – the P word!) – but this was just not.  Think Christmas, and candy canes and peppermints,  and just NO!

OK – back to the Survivor finale and my knitting.
