December 25th already?

No way!  It was just the 6th – read the last post if you don’t believe me.  It’s hard to believe that Christmas has already come and (mostly) gone.  We have done 1 family birthday party, 2 Christmas parties (one while sick with a stomach bug – what fun!), a holiday concert, 2 family Christmases, and lots and lots of eating.

As promised, Mark’s vest was completed by Christmas.  4 p.m. on Christmas Day, that is.  Just in time for him to wear it to family Christmas tonight so that family could ooh and ahh over it.  Yes, I made them.  I can’t help it!  It’s pretty, and soft, and it fits!  Mark let me take the picture on the condition that I not show his face.  I’m not sure who he’s hiding from, but since I promised, I cropped his head out.

Also finished on time, thank goodness, was Holly’s purse.  I’m still not totally in love with the dots, but she likes it.  At least, she’s carrying it.  At 16, I figure that’s got to mean it’s not too bad!  We have her back for part of Christmas break, and we’re very happy to have her, and we’re making sure she gets plenty of American “excess” for Christmas.

Mom’s flying it tonight – actually on the way as I type this.  The joy of having a new driver in the house is that I get to send her on a 40 minute drive to the airport to pick up Grandma, instead of going myself.  It will be a short visit, just until Friday morning, but we’re looking forward to it.  And once she opens them, I’ll get to post a picture of her Koigu Crusoe Christmas socks.

I’m still plugging along on the Trekking Christmas socks – I guess they won’t be done in time for Christmas, but they’re still great colors.  I’ve finished one whole and one half, and am doing a star toe on these, since it seemed appropriately Christmas-y.  After that, I need to finish up the sweater and the Lotus Blossom tank, then who knows what I’ll start?  I’m making it my goal to make and give away socks this year – let’s shoot for 6 pairs for now.  I’ll make more for me, of course, but since the handknitted sock drawer is overflowing, and I could literally wear a different pair every day of the month, it’s probably time to use some of this sock yarn for a good cause other than me.  Who will I knit for?  Oh, for friends, maybe some family, probably some teachers, and maybe if I’m feeling really good, some strangers.  We’ll see.

I’m off to grab a little me time before the house overflows (6 people + 4 beds, 3 of which are twin-sized=not quite enough room).  But it’s a happy overflow!  Merry Christmas to all and to all a full house.
